The East River Ferry Landings project, sponsored by the New York City Economic Development Corporation in conjunction with the City of New York Department of Transportation and the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation, Hudson Meridian Construction Group is responsible for Construction Management services from pre-construction through project close-out.
The $25 million contract involved the construction and/or upgrade of three ferry landing sites along the East River, including the Battery Maritime Building (BMB), East 34th Street, and East 90th Street. Each facility plays an important role in the greater NYC area transportation network connecting commuters to landings in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.
The project included the construction of a new timber pier, construction of a new precast concrete pier, rehabilitation of existing docking facilities, and the construction and/or renovation of five new floating platforms. Site amenities include the construction of, a new ticket booth building, an upland waterfront esplanade park, a new express bus stop, and an interior waiting area in an historic building. The East 34th Street site includes an architectural award winning steel tensile structure canopy.
Hudson Meridian has coordinated communications between five sub consultants and over a dozen contractors. HM is currently completing the final phase of construction under budget. |
