Hudson Meridian Construction Group was initially awarded an $89 million contract by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to perform construction management services on a requirements basis for various construction projects throughout New York City.  Subsequently a $30 million change order was executed bringing the total contract value to $119 million.

NYCHA is the largest housing authority in the country with more than 417,000 tenants. Projects included building exterior repairs and reconstruction; upgrade or replacement of heating plant, controls and distribution systems; major electrical equipment and distribution systems upgrades; fuel oil tank replacements including remediation of contaminated soil; and waterfront reconstruction.

Based on our successful performance under the initial contract NYCHA has awarded a second $50 million contract to Hudson Meridian for similar work. A list of the projects that have been completed or are currently underway within the initial contract follows:

Armstrong Houses –  CMAA Award 2006 Honorable Mention
This $16,000,000 project included the replacement of the entire heating distribution system, including 18 new boilers, pumps, valves, underground piping, apartment piping, convectors and associated equipment in 13
buildings while the buildings remained occupied. The majority of this
work was completed in a 5 month period.

Prospect Plaza
$1.3 million, fuel oil tank removal and contaminated soil remediation emergency   project was completed in 63 days.

Adams Houses
$1,050,000 replacement of low voltage electrical switchgear, including provisions for temporary power generation to maintain resident electrical services. This entire project was completed in a 3 week period.

Bay View Houses
Emergency replacement of underground steam distribution piping between four buildings, with a construction cost of $550,000.

Stuyvesant Houses
Emergency replacement of underground steam distribution piping, valued at $49,000.

Edenwald Houses
Emergency replacement of ruptured underground steam line serving two buildings including abatement of asbestos insulation. Temporary services provided during the project to ensure that hot water and heating service was available to tenants throughout the project.

Farragut Houses
Emergency repair of ruptured sewer line, valued at $75,000.

Wald Houses
$41.5 million structural repairs, masonry and roofing work on eight-building complex on the lower east side. Completed on schedule in 18-months.

Newtown Creek Facility
Valued at $2,460,000, this project is comprised of waterfront reconstruction, including bulkheads, piles, paving and decorative park style handrails.

West Farms Road
$1.3 million project replaced seven boilers, new pumps, and water meters in 4 boiler rooms. Completed in seven months, five months ahead of schedule.

Jackson Houses
Replaced heating control systems, including electronic controls, pumps, valves and traps.  Approximate construction cost $1,141,000.

Hammel Houses
$2.5 million project replaced leaking fuel oil tank and refuse management system. Upgraded building grounds including replacement of steel bar fencing, pavement, park and recreational equipment. All work performed in this fully occupied development.

Morris Houses
Bathroom steam riser replacement including traps, drips and strainers.  Estimated construction cost  $1,327,000.

Lafayette Houses
Replacement of underground fuel oil storage tanks and remediation of asbestos and contaminated soil.  Estimated construction cost $487,000.

Cassidy / Lafayette Houses
This project, valued at $1,409,000 requires the replacement of three boilers, including pumps, associated equipment and controls.

Polo Grounds
Complete electrical upgrade including switch boards, distribution panels, risers, convenience outlets and lighting.  Estimated construction cost of $6,860,000.

Independence Towers
Upgrade and re-piping of three boilers and associated equipment. Temporary equipment was provided during the course of this project to maintain heat and hot water for the tenants in this complex.

Jefferson Towers
Replacement of water and fire service piping. All work performed in this fully occupied development while maintaining service to tenants.

Adams Houses
This was the second electrical project awarded to Hudson Meridian at this facility and included the replacement of the entire electrical service system for this seven building complex. Work included new switchgear in each building, total replacement of the electrical distribution feeders and the installation of three new utility services from Con Edison. The construction costs were $3,978,000.
