Hudson Meridian Construction Group was hired by the Sheldrake Organization, in cooperation with RAIN (Regional Aid for Interim Needs Inc.), to manage the construction of a senior citizen apartment complex located on a 26,000 sq. ft.
lot in the Bronx.
The seven-story, 70,000 sq. ft. building consists of 72 units of housing affordable to senior citizens 62 years of age and older, as well as a 15,000 sq. ft. senior center. Fifteen percent of the apartments will be reserved for the disabled elderly.
The structure is brick and block construction with precast concrete plank floors. The building’s façade/architectural details include cast stone cornices, simulated stone masonry units and a multi-story glass curtain wall. The building contains two traction and one hydraulic elevators.
Project Highlights:
Windows – triple insulated glass units were installed, STC rated, to filter the noise from a nearby elevated subway line.
Landscaping – gardens and patios at the rear of the building offer additional space adjacent to the community room with commercial grade kitchen and banquet facility.
Senior Center – includes fitness facility with locker rooms, sauna
and laundry facility. |
