Hudson Meridian Construction Group was the Construction Manager for the restoration of this pedestrian bridge at Chambers and West Streets. The scope included a full architectural renovation of the bridge and its services as well as an expedited timeline for the grand opening of a nearby high school. Hudson Meridian completed the project on time and within the established budget.
Project Highlights:
- Canopy – the architectural metal and glass canopy required remediation and replacement due to environmental impact and decay resulting from its proximity to the West Side Highway.
- Site logistics – the project was phased to allow the bridge to remain open to pedestrians while the decorative metal stairs and pedestrian walkway were replaced.
- Lighting – decorative lighting was installed and included “Green” energy efficient technology with photo sensors.
- Elevators – OTIS elevators were refurbished with electronic controls and call button indicators.
- Accessibility – ADA concerns were addressed as to proper flooring materials and signage.
